Let my words be sweet sounds

And my thoughts pure.

I would be content,

For You, Oh Lord, are in me

And there is no place in my soul

That You do not long to possess.

You restore to me

Desire for Light

And the hope of Beauty.

I see horrors of great darkness

And I long to be like You,

Seeing death as life fulfilled,

The attainment of the eternal.

  1. First of all I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question
which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Kudos!

    • I recommend freewriting. If you haven’t done it in a writing class, it is an exercise in which you give yourself a set amount of time to write with or without a prompt. Grammar, style and organization are unimportant, since the objective is to get ideas on paper. The only rule is that you must write continually. You cannot pause or take a break for the duration of the set time. Freewriting can be used to clear your head of irrelevant ideas so that you can focus on the topic you want to write about, or it can be used to generate ideas by letting you write about a subject until clear, substantial ideas begin to come together.
